Jay Hussey
Jay Hussey, a North Texas artist, received his formal fine arts training at East Texas State University (now Texas A&M, Commerce). After college he entered the sign business, mastering skills such as signage design, hand lettering and gilding. After twelve years in the business and with the computerization of the industry in full swing, he decided on a lateral move into the marketing display business. With the help of a talented team of people and some financial backing, he used his knowledge of design and artistic skill to design, render, and fabricate displays in wood, laminates and metals for a broad clientele including homebuilders, developers and property management companies.
In 1999, Jay started his own business and began to explore a career in faux finishing and decorative painting. He has worked with many interior designers, both commercial and residential, creating unique finishes that truly transform business and home interiors. Trompe l’oeil, murals and commissioned paintings were added to his repertoire, and quickly filled the majority of his schedule. Jay was recently commissioned by an investment firm in Dallas, Texas to execute all of the paintings that hang in the firm’s offices. He has also completed many works nationwide for Bell Helicopter/Textron Co., including large aviation illustrations, murals on canvas and even a one-half scale sculpture of Leondardo da Vinci’s flying machine which now hangs in the lobby of Bell Helicopter’s International Customer Care Center in Fort Worth, Texas.
